About Us
Hello! Margit and Brunhilde (Bruni) here.
Always wanting to live on Vancouver Island, Mom and Dad’s dream became a reality in 1995 when our family moved to Ladysmith onto a farm of 26 acres. Herb found our new home after persistently searching available properties over a period of time and many family vacation trips to the island.
We are still here because we love it! After Dad passed in 2007, it took us some time to find our footing and live again. Thankfully our creative juices never really left: they just took some time to rekindle.
Mom and I have always been creative whether via knitting, stitching, beading, quilting or stamping (paper-crafting). I remember my first stitching kit I received for Christmas one year (mom wanted me to learn to hand-stitch before I played on her sewing machine 😊) – I was four years old at the time. From there I learned to hand-knit with Mom showing me the basics when I was five years old. Mom and I both got into machine knitting and then quilting when I was about 13 years old and Mom continues to machine knit and quilt to this day. My exploration into paper-crafting began with my interest in Japanese paper-folding and then rubber-stamping! One trip to Vancouver when I was 10 years old, Mom and Dad brought me back a rubber stamp of a unicorn and a rainbow inkpad – well: I still have that stamp and I still love stamping!!!!
We finally decided to convert “Dad’s space” into our creative studio and from there it has evolved into our Cozy Crafters Retreat! It is self-contained and an ideal spot for six (6) to eight (8) people to enjoy!
Come and join us for a creatively enjoyable weekend! We look forward to seeing you soon.
